Event
The roller derby tournament will consist of two rounds:
- Preliminary rounds organized as a pool system (round-robin)
- Classification as knockout system
Each team must consist of 14 players.

The breakdown is based on previous Gay Games history in Europe:
- 30% Men, 70% Women
- 40% North America, 60% remaining countries
Key Success Factors
- Roller derby is one of the fastest growing women’s full contact sports in the world. Including this sport in the FGG program will help this sport development on one side, and will bring to the Gay Games additional fun, excitement, and enthusiasm on the other side. Roller derby is a sport and a real show that attracts plenty of spectators.
- In February 2012, at the 123rd International Olympic Committee session in South Africa, it was announced that Roller derby was one of the eight sports under consideration for inclusion in the 2020 Olympic Games
