Blued named Paris 2018 Gold Partner

Blued, the premier global gay social network, joins with Paris 2018

Paris 2018 and Blued are pleased to announce the signature of their partnership agreement to support the success of Paris 2018, the 10th edition of the Gay Games.

Convinced that technological development is a driving force for social progress and improved integration, Mr. Geng Le, founder of Blued, fights against the discrimination and incorrect perceptions that the LGBTQI community often face. He was naturally drawn to Paris 2018-Gay Games 10, held under the theme of “A Celebration of Diversity”, to support its message of inclusion and empowerment.

Geng Le, President and Founder of Blued: “The Gay Games are the largest and most influential sporting event in the LGBTQI world. We are very honored and pleased to be able to partner with them, and will be ensuring the widest possible media attention through the provision of live mobile coverage throughout the world.

Manuel Picaud, Co-President of Paris 2018: “More than just a Gold Sponsor, Blued is a partner who is strongly engaged in the success of Paris 2018, the 10th Gay Games. As with Tom Waddell in his time, Mr Geng Le is a visionary working for the rights of LGBTQI people and the fight against HIV. We are very proud of this agreement.

Jérémy Goupille, Communication Director: “This partnership with Blued ensures that our humanist message will reach the four corners of the globe, especially in Asia, as well as support the launch of the application in Europe.

Blued is the premier global gay social network, an affiliate of Blue City, which was developed in China over the past 17 years. Blued positions itself as a social media mobile application that allows the LGBTQI community to discover and share geo-localized content (friends, events, news, talent shows, etc.) The mission of Blued is to improve the quality of life of the community around the world through its strength in mobile technologies. Blued currently has 27 million users, with more than 3,5 million active each day. The application is currently in Beta in Europe, with a launch planned to begin the middle of 2017 in France and the United Kingdom. Various partnerships have been signed in Europe, notably with MisterB&B, to promote safe travel across the world and rich shared experiences for the LGBTQI community.

Paris 2018 is the tenth edition of the Gay Games, the largest international sport and culture event open to all and is held under the guiding principles: “Participation, Inclusion and Personal Best®”. From August 4 to 12, 2018, Paris will welcome 15000 participants from around the world for a festival of sport and culture with 36 sports, 14 cultural events, and an academic conference (from 1 – 3 August, in Paris City Hall).  Paris 2018 – Gay Games 10 is organized by a volunteer team, with support from the City of Paris, the Île-de- France Region, the national Ministry of Cities, Youth, and Sports, the Inter-Ministerial Delegate for Large Sporting Events, 36 national French Sport Federations, and in partnership with FSGL, the Fédération Sportive Gaie et Lesbienne, the LGBT Centre, Inter-LGBT, l’Autre Cercle, and the national student federation, FAGE.

Built upon the principles of Participation, Inclusion, and Personal Best™ since 1982, the Gay Games exists to promote equality in sport and culture. The Gay Games was conceived by Dr. Tom Waddell, an Olympic decathlete, and was first held in San Francisco in 1982.
