Concerts symphoniques

Paris now has two LGBT organizations that are orchestras, like the city of Lyon, composed of musicians from very different backgrounds. Thus the Rainbow Symphony Orchestra (RSO), the first French LGBT international symphonic orchestra, is an example of what can the music bring: meeting different people through their regional and international origins, their age and their sexual orientation, gay, lesbian, bisexual and heterosexual, with one goal, playing all together to progress the tolerance and equality.

With ten years of experience, the Rainbow Symphony Orchestra will be the support association for musical events during the Gay Games.

Opening and Closing Ceremony

For this occasion, the specifications of the design contest for the Gay Games 2018 Anthem will include "gender confusion." This Anthem will be on live during the opening ceremony. Each musical group will perform separately to become one. Other arts will also be invited to participate in this celebration: the colors, the movement and the sound will go on.
Musicians and choirs enrolled musical events will all be invited to attend the opening ceremony. The orchestra will be led by internationally renowned chef invited to the occasion.
Rainbow Symphony Orchestra (RSO) will also accompany live showbiz personalities who wish to produce acoustic with a symphony orchestra.

Anthem Contest

As in Cologne, a large composition competition for the anthem of the Gay Games will be launched a year before. Composers participating in the contest will receive a detailed specification. For this year 2018, the theme being "all equal", it is proposed composed a hymn that will combine both the symphony orchestra, choirs, bands and instrumental ensemble (jazz and rock, world music) that could participate.

Orchestral Master Class

For the first time, it will be offered to participating musicians a "master class" with a chef internationally recognized invited for the occasion (godfather of the cultural week). Several names have been mentioned: Michael Tilson Thomas, who had sponsored the creation of the RSO, or Simon Rattle, orchestra conductor, current Berliner Philharmoniker.

Orchestras Competition

For the first time, the Gay Games will offer a contest between orchestras. Of course, this contest is open to all symphonic orchestras, LGBT or not and chamber music ensembles. The contest will be public.

The competition will consist of three events: a compulsory work, a decoding and a free work. The jury of professionals and chaired by the chief guest, every day an orchestra will hear and give of notes according to several criteria (accuracy, precision, musicality, etc.).. These notes give points and will establish a ranking. The orchestra will be the winner who receives the most points.

Symphony Ball

A ball Symphony, proposed by Rainbow Symphony Orchestra (RSO) in partnership with Gaies Musettes will be held at the Trocadero. This is an opportunity for almost 2 hours of dancing waltzes, polkas, marches and other ballroom dances, with live orchestra, all in a wonderful place, in front of the Eiffel Tower.
This original formula has been organized and successfully tested in animation space Blancs Manteaux in January 2012.

Concerts

Of course, the cultural week will be punctuated by evening concerts that will take place at the Philharmonie de Paris but also in other places, such as theaters or party rooms of City Hall (13th, 4th, 9th, etc.districts).

Orchestras participating in the competition are invited each to give a concert during this period. If the program is not sufficient to hold a party, they will share the stage with another band.

A multi-pass card concerts allow public access with a single tariff for all concerts and “aà la carte formula” will also be offered.

Gala evenings

The gala evening will bring together musicians from symphonic orchestras participating in the master class under the baton of guest conductor. Two large major works of the repertoire will be given on this occasion. This prestigious and memorable evening, which may also involve choirs, will be held at the Philharmonie de Paris.
