In the framework of the conferences that will be taking place from 1 to 3 August, Paris 2018 is planning to carry on the themes discussed in the various sessions by organizing exchanges and discussions with the general public.

With a moderator, a philosopher, and an English-speaking translator, the discussions will cover similar sports-related themes: sports and discrimination, sports and health, and sports for all.

Of course, the discussions will be courteous and avoid issues forbidden by the law, such as racism, LGBT-phobia and incitation to violence. At a café-philo, there is no place for personal aggression. Yet, the fact that philosophy encourages respect and consideration of others does not mean that there cannot be contradictions or differences of perspectives, which is essential to democracy.

The discussions will take place at Paris’ most popular café-philo, the Café des Phares, which for 20 years now has become a genuine institution.

Guillaume and Jean-Baptiste and their team welcome you to take part in these discussions.
