The swimming stadium Thorez was built in 1966 in an era of massive building for sports equipment. Becoming obsolete and not in compliance with standards, Montreuil decided in 1997 to rehabilitate it. While based on the original architecture, new windows are installed and providing natural light that is very important. The new swimming stadium was inaugurated in August 2006.

The new swimming stadium has a 50m pool with 8 water lines, platforms of 10 m, 7.50 m and 5 m, Maxiflex springboards of 3m and 1m, a sports hall, a fitness area, a meeting room and grandstands to accommodate 750 spectators

 

The nautical stadium Thorez is welcoming every year sports competitions and a high-level one, the  Open Make Up Forever synchronized swimming, which brings together 11 teams of international level tournaments among the best at international water polo (men’s team of France, feminine Europe Trophy…) and French Championships Masters of diving and synchronized swimming, both organized by Paris Aquatic.
The swimming stadium is also one of the training centers of the national diving team …
