Martial Arts during Gay Games 10 offers all martial artists, whatever their ability, the opportunity to meet fellow athletes worldwide during competitions and seminars.

The proposed Judo events are:

  • Nage Waza: Standard combat judo
  • Ne Waza: Judo ground fighting
  • Kata Judo: Forms of continuously moving and interaction with a partner. Two competitions will take place: bare hands and weapons.

Judo events are open to all skill levels, from beginner to more advanced. Each event is divided into divisions based on experience. At the same time, the events are open to people with special needs due to their physical condition. Everyone can strive to do their personal best!

In addition to the judo events training to arbitration (“clinics”) and martial arts seminars of all styles will be free to access and offered by the best teachers of martial arts, judo and boxing.

Judo events will be held at the Institute of Judo by MAKOTO Judo Jujitsu with the help of the International Association of Gay and Lesbian Martial Artists (IAGLMA) and the support of the French Judo Federation (FFJ).

Nearly 300 participants are expected for the week of events under one roof, Judo, Martial Arts all styles, Boxing multi- style and Wrestling.

The Fighting Group composed by Makoto Judo-Jujitsu, Niji-Kan Karate do, Paname Boxing Club and Paris Lutte is looking forward to welcoming you for a fantastic GAY GAMES 10 in Paris!

Every day: Doors open at 7:30 am | Competitions start at 9:00 am

Rules

The applicable regulations are those of the International Association of Gay and Lesbian Martial Artists (IAGLMA). These rules are modeled on the rules of the International Judo Federation (IJF) but with some modifications.

These rules guarantee a fair arbitration and security for the less experienced participants. To avoid any surprises during the events, please read the rules, in French or English.

  • All Styles Martial Arts: Forms (kata, hyuing, ..) individual or team (3 persons) Open Hand forms, musical forms (black belt only), individual weapon forms, two-person’s sets Empty Hand or Weapons Forms, Sparring, Self-Defense
  • Judo-Jujitsu: Mat Fights (ne waza), Standard Judo Competition (nage waza)
  • Martial Arts & Judo-Jujitsu: Two person’s sets Empty Hand and Weapons
  • Boxing:All-Styles Kick and Punch Boxing Competition (Nota Bene : Kick Boxing is not proposed as a competition).

Detailed program of events by day will be published several days after closing of registrations (around 14 days before the competition).

 

Spectators

Spectators are welcome and invited to watch and support their favourite teams and friends!

Admission is free and the stands of the Judo Institute can accommodate up to 1500 people.

 

Free

Categories

For each event, divisions will be offered by gender, skill level, age or/and weight, to enable all participants to have the best change to demonstrate their skills.

In the event of an insufficient number of participants in some categories, the Paris 2018 organizers reserve the right to aggregate divisions and classes. Conversely, in case of overcrowding, organizers can create new divisions.

 

Levels

The following level categories may be used:

  • Beginners (white, yellow or orange belts or under 1 year of experience)
  • Intermediates (green, blue or purple belts or under 2 years of experience)
  • Advanced (red or brown belts, or between 2 and 4 years of experience)
  • Black Belts (or over 5 years of experience)
  • Black Belts 3rd dan and +

 

Age Groups

No age groups are planned in Judo. In case of overcrowding, organizers may create age groups.

 

Weight

  • Weight categories for Standard Judo Competitions (NageWaza) are:
    • MEN: less than 60kg (132lbs), less than 66kg (145.2lbs), less than 73kg (160.6 lbs), less than 81kg (178.2lbs), less than 90kg (198lbs), less than 100kg (220lbs), more than 100kg (220lbs or more)
    • WOMEN: less 48kg (105.6lbs), less than 52kg (114.4lbs), less than 57kg (125.4lbs), less than 63kg (138.6lbs), less than 70kg (154lbs), less than 78kg (171.6lbs), more than 78kg (171.6 lbs or more).

 

  • The weight categories for Mat Fights (Ne Waza) are:
    • MEN: less than 62kg (136.7lbs), less than 69kg (152.1lbs), less than 77kg (169.8lbs), less than 85kg (187.4lbs), less than 94kg (207.2lbs), more than 94kg (207.2lbs or more)
    • WOMEN: less than 55kg (121.6lbs), less than 62kg (136.7lbs), less than 70kg (154.2lbs) more 70kg (154.2lbs or more).

 

  • Unless otherwise requested, there is no consideration of weight for people with special physical needs.
